Canine Partners would like to offer a second chance to some lucky dogs.
We are looking for a significant number of well socialised dogs any age up to and including 5 years. They will be retrained as Canine Partners assistance dogs, to help people with disabilities regain their independence.
If you know of a dog with a calm and cheerful personality, who is healthy and fit and would enjoy a new career assisting a person with disabilities, please contact Sandra Parton on 01730 716030 or use our local call rate number 08456 580 480. Alternatively you can email Sandra at sandrap@caninepartners.co.uk.
Criteria
The dogs we are seeking will assist people who use wheelchairs or other mobility aids, so they will need to be between 18in/45cms and 25 in/63cms in height. Ideally they will be one of the Retriever breeds, or a retriever-type cross breed. We also train standard poodle crosses.
Health records and tests, background history and pedigree would be preferable. All dogs will be assessed during a trial period at our centre.
This is a wonderful life, as well as a precious, life-changing mission for those lucky dogs that prove to be suitable.
Breeders
If you are a breeder of one of the Retriever breeds or Standard Poodles, or a mix of these we would be delighted to discuss our work with you and identify any litters you are expecting this year that might be suitable for us to consider. Ideally you would be situated within 2 hours of our Main training centre, or any of our Puppy Training Satellites.
Background history, pedigree and screening of hips and eyes would be preferable.
All puppies will be assessed by one of our Training team and they need to be calm, interested in people, co-operative and not scared of noises.
